Gluten-Free Apple Crisp

This easy gluten-free apple crisp features sweet, cinnamon-spiced apples topped with a crunchy oat crumble.

Ingredients

For the Topping:

  • ½ cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup gluten-free quick oats
  • ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup butter, softened (or dairy-free alternative)

For the Filling:

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and chopped (Granny Smith recommended)
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Make Topping: In a bowl, combine the topping ingredients until crumbly. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.
  3. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, mix the apples with lemon juice, melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Assemble: Pour the apple mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle the topping evenly over it.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
