This easy gluten-free apple crisp features sweet, cinnamon-spiced apples topped with a crunchy oat crumble.
Ingredients
For the Topping:
- ½ cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
- ½ cup gluten-free quick oats
- ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup butter, softened (or dairy-free alternative)
For the Filling:
- 4 cups apples, peeled and chopped (Granny Smith recommended)
- 3 tablespoons melted butter (or dairy-free alternative)
- 2 tablespoons gluten-free all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Make Topping: In a bowl, combine the topping ingredients until crumbly. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.
- Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, mix the apples with lemon juice, melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
- Assemble: Pour the apple mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle the topping evenly over it.
- Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
