Vegan Chocolate Mousse Recipe

Ingredients

Option 1: Silken Tofu Version

  • 1 (12.3 oz) package of firm silken tofu
  • 2.8 oz dairy-free chocolate (high-quality)
  • 2 ½ tablespoons maple syrup (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder (optional for extra chocolate flavor)

Option 2: Avocado Version (Soy-Free)

  • 340 g ripe avocados (about 2 medium avocados)
  • 2.8 oz dairy-free chocolate (high-quality)
  • 2 ½ tablespoons maple syrup (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate:
    • In a double boiler or microwave, melt the dairy-free chocolate until smooth. If using the microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between to avoid burning.
  2. Blend Ingredients:
    • For the silken tofu version: Drain the silken tofu and add it to a blender or food processor along with the melted chocolate and maple syrup. Blend until creamy and smooth.
    • For the avocado version: Scoop the ripe avocado flesh into a blender or food processor, then add the melted chocolate and maple syrup. Blend until completely smooth.
  3. Add Cocoa Powder:
    • If desired, add cocoa powder to enhance the chocolate flavor and blend again until fully incorporated.
  4. Chill:
    • Spoon the mousse into individual serving cups or jars. Refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow it to set.
  5. Serve:
    • Enjoy your vegan chocolate mousse as is, or top with fresh berries, whipped coconut cream, or shaved dark chocolate for added flair.
